Relaxation Massage
Relaxation massage is also known as a Swedish massage, which uses a range of strokes applying light, medium and firm pressure. When we are stressed and overwhelmed our levels of cortisol, epinephrin and norepinephrine levels ( also known as adrenaline and noradrenaline ) tend to be higher, which can cause feelings of anxiety and depression, insomnia, appetite irregularities and lack of focus and concentration. Relaxation massage helps to lower these levels, creating the positive effect of raising our feel good hormones, dopamine and serotonin. These help to increase concentration, memory and problem solving, and improving mood balance with reducing depression and insomnia. You will feel a sense of well being.
Orthopaedic Massage
Orthopaedic massage is focused on treating painful soft tissue conditions caused by repetitive strain, overuse or injury; through assessment and a range of massage techniques to relieve muscular and soft tissue pain. Pressure applied is medium to deep which could cause discomfort, your pain tolerance levels will be respected and your LYSA massage therapist will communicate with you to apply the proper level of pressure that is comfortable for you.
Deep Tissue Massage
A deep tissue massage is not all about the amount of pressure applied; it's full intention is to work on all layers of the body's soft tissues, particularly the structure we call deep fascia. Fascia surrounds our muscles creating structure and support. Injury, overuse and repetitive strain causing inflammation results in changes and stiffness between muscle and fascia. Deep tissue massage can help restore elasticity/malleability and restore the balance between the muscles and their fascia. Portions of the treatment can be uncomfortable at times with the possibility of pain, however, your pain tolerance levels will be respected and your LYSA massage therapist will communicate with you to apply the proper level of pressure that is comfortable for you.
